I Don’t Know Any of My Passwords and That’s a Good Thing

BY IT GLUE | August 26, 2019

I don’t know any of my passwords. I’m okay with this. I don’t need to know them. I don’t want to know them. I don’t use the same password twenty times over, and I don’t have a little notebook with passwords in it sitting in my desk drawer, either. I just don’t know any of my passwords.

Why is this good?

Let me count the ways.

One, I don’t have easy to remember passwords. They are all impossibly long and complex. There’s no mnemonic that would help me remember any of my passwords, anyway. My passwords are difficult to brute force.

Two, they are stored securely. I store them in IT Glue – could just as easily be MyGlue – where they are protected by SSO and MFA. So it’s not easy for somebody to gain access to my account.

Three, nobody else gets to know my passwords either. When I get a password out of IT Glue, it probably autofills. It if doesn’t, I copy + paste without ever seeing the password. I can create a new one and never see it, too. So shoulder surfers aren’t getting anything.

Four, I can’t accidentally leak my passwords. You know those phishing attacks where they ask for your login and password, steal your credentials and use them for the purposes of evil? Those work way better on people who actually know their credentials.

Design > Discipline

Your clients are busy. They have a lot of work to do, so relying on them to have perfect discipline with respect to password best practices is just not going to work. You know this.

(Complex passwords + no duplicate passwords) * 150 accounts = NOPE

So instead of relying on people to magically have perfect discipline when you know that’s not going to happen, why not try a better way?

We have designed MyGlue to eliminate the need for human discipline in password security. When you deploy MyGlue, especially with the recent features we’ve added and ones on the way, your clients will be able to do their jobs as efficiently as ever, without compromising on password security. It’s a whole new way to think about password security.

If you haven’t seen MyGlue lately, why not first take a quick look at some of the new features, like account-based MFA and granular permissioning, and then get yourself set up with some seats. When your clients find out they can have top notch password security, forget their passwords, and not slow down, they’ll wonder why you didn’t get them on MyGlue sooner.
