Our first enhancement is the introduction of the AD Password Rotation Scheduler, which allows you to automate password rotation based on a user-defined frequency. In addition to on-demand rotation, this new capability puts password rotation on autopilot, enhancing compliance and security. IT Glue Administrators can set the preferred frequency for AD password rotation, and selected AD passwords on a predetermined schedule will undergo automatic rotation.

This means you can set up password rotation to align with your organization’s specific needs, ensuring that passwords remain fresh and secure without manual intervention.

1-Click AD Password Rotation: Centralized account management with Custom Roles (NEW)

In addition to the existing capabilities, we’ve added Custom Role functionality. Administrators and managers can now delegate network management tasks, specifically password rotation in Network Glue, to other technicians and team members who previously lacked this ability. By utilizing the Custom Role for 1-Click AD Password Rotation, permissions can be updated without interfering with access to other IT Glue features. This guarantees that all relevant team members will possess the required access to the crucial task of password rotation, enabling administrators and managers to allocate more of their time and attention to other responsibilities.

With the introduction of Custom Roles, your team can efficiently manage password rotation while streamlining access control and delegation.

AD Password Rotation Roadmap: What’s Next?

But we’re not stopping here. We’re committed to further improving this feature, and we have a roadmap of enhancements on the horizon:

  • Scheduler Per Organization (Q4 2023): We’re working on a feature that will allow you to customize password rotation schedules on a per organization basis to match their unique needs, offering enhanced control and flexibility.
  • Azure Passwords (Q1 2024): One of the most anticipated updates to this feature will be the addition of Azure passwords, providing a comprehensive solution for both on-premises and cloud-based password management.

Our product update webinar for Q1 2023 highlighted some exciting features and updates we released over the last few months. This webinar also shared some critical updates on what you can expect from IT Glue in the future.

This time, our innovation focused on critical factors, such as security, business continuity, automation, service desk efficiency and client relationships. Here’s a glimpse of our updates in IT Glue.

Security

Not only is IT Glue SOC-2 Type II compliant, but it also has many user-controlled security measures like enforced MFA, IP Access Control, user permissions and Password & Quick Notes Vault, that once set up, allow you to be confident about protecting your most important assets.

During the webinar, we covered the new SSO Access Control feature that lets you choose how individual users log in to IT Glue – either exclusively via your SSO provider or directly with their IT Glue credentials. With the option to toggle off SSO Access Control login for specific users, you can completely control their login experience. All users will still be protected with IT Glue MFA if they can log in with their IT Glue credentials.

We also announced plans to bring Geo-Location Access Control to IT Glue.

IT asset management ensures that the organization makes the most efficient use of its hardware, for smooth operations but also to get the most bang for the IT buck. When it comes to asset management, one of the biggest challenges is that traditional asset management sits with different teams. Yet the IT team has specific interests in the management of IT assets.

The IT team, for example, needs to know what hardware and software assets the company is using, to properly evaluate the cybersecurity risks that an organization faces. If asset management sits with a procurement or finance team, there will inevitably be a gap in communication and the IT team will find itself trying to secure the company’s environments without ever really having a clear view of the entire IT environment.

Another major challenge in IT is managing people. As explained by IT Glue’s GM and CTO, Nadir Merchant, “Growth is much easier when you have everyone on the team following the same processes. When the process is separated from what, who, and why, it’s much more difficult for IT to grow. Connecting asset management with processes, passwords, SOPs, and any other information the IT team needs allows for IT departments to scale with the rest of the company.”

IT Glue was launched in 2014, and before that, it was the internal product of a managed service provider. They used IT Glue to help manage their documentation. IT Glue Vault

It’s time to boost password security by enabling IT Glue Vault. This feature allows you to set a user-specific passphrase to access the passwords stored inside the Vault. Nobody else can see your IT Glue Vault passwords since the only person who knows the user-specific passphrase is you.

IP Access Control

With sophisticated threats to data increasing exponentially, limiting access by isolating threats is a great way to boost data security.

IP Access Control allows you to limit IT Glue access to a specified list of IP addresses or a range of IP addresses. Once you have entered the specified IP addresses, requests from an IP address list outside the allowed list or range will be denied. You can also add notes beside each listed IP address or range of IP addresses.

Workflow (Password Workflows)

Workflows are your alerting sensors in IT Glue. When managing passwords stored in IT Glue, you can set up various workflow triggers based on the actions taken by the user, such as adding a password, updating a password, etc. For instance, if you wish to receive a notification whenever someone accesses sensitive passwords in your system, you can set up a workflow trigger for password access and specify the list of people who must be notified.

Business Personal Passwords

You can store your business personal passwords in IT Glue. In the passwords section, you can find both “shared” and “personal” tabs that give you a list of all the personal passwords you’ve stored in the system. The business personal passwords here are accessible only to you, and you can find the “only me” security option checked in the security section. Both shared and business personal passwords can be accessed and auto-filled with your browser extension.

Checklists and Checklist Templates

Checklists are a great way to manage and ensure accountability for your repeat projects. IT Glue has many out-of-the-box checklist templates to help you manage your critical tasks. For instance, you can find templates for onboarding/offboarding your technicians, deploying new workstations and more.

You can tag people to individual steps to hold them accountable for completing that step. You can also create templates or edit any existing steps as per your requirements. A new feature we introduced last year was the ability to specify checklists for a particular client. This helps you keep certain templates available only to specific parties instead of making them global.

Runbook

Runbooks allows you to generate professionally formatted documentation packages in PDF format. Most importantly, you can also access structured information in IT Glue offline. With this feature, you can create runbooks for individual, multiple or all clients simultaneously. You can gain greater visibility into various assets and the relationships among them.

Microsoft Integrations (Microsoft 365, Intune and Active Directory)

IT Glue comes with a robust integration of Microsoft solutions, including Microsoft 365, Intune, Active Directory and Azure AD. Automate and consolidate cloud, hybrid and on-prem multitenant user information from Azure AD, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 into one pane. For instance, you can view all your Microsoft 365 licenses, the accounts of these licenses and the number of active, consumed and unused seats per license. Additionally, you can also easily view the last login and last password change from Active Directory.

With the Intune integration, you can complete your device information in IT Glue for a consolidated view of your managed, unmanaged and mobile devices in a single pane.

Automated Account Backup

With Automated Account Backup, you can automatically export your account data and ensure the availability of an up-to-date, recent backup in case of an emergency. This will ensure that your information will always be accessible.

MyGlue Help Center

The MyGlue Help Center serves as a knowledge base for your clients, and you can use it to manage the “help” articles you’ve already put together. If your clients face any minor issues, they can check out these knowledge articles and find a solution before reaching out to you for help. In the IT Glue platform, you can view, edit, update or change access for any articles in the MyGlue Help Center. Your clients can become self-sufficient when dealing with minor issues, and you can reduce your overall ticket count.

GlueConnect

If you want to outsource some of your service desk functions, you can grant your third-party provider access to your data in IT Glue with GlueConnect. This allows them to be as productive as your in-house team, providing significant opportunities to grow your business. It is also the

Automatically document Datto SIRIS appliance as IT Glue Configuration that will include details such as used storage (local), available storage (local), cloud storage used and last check-in time. 

Protected assets: 

You will get a single view for last backup time and last backup status. Additionally, you can easily determine whether the backup was successful, the latest recovery point for the backup and whether to use onsite or Datto’s cloud. This will help you quickly determine whether the configuration is protected. 

The following fields from Datto will be visible in IT Glue as Device Details as per the latest backup: protected volumes count, unprotected volumes count, protected names and unprotected names. 

Validate backup status and ensure integrity

Your clients are trusting you to ensure the continuity of their businesses, and you must aim to deliver on that promise. At a quick glance, validate the integrity of the protected configuration with a screenshot and the time stamp to ensure the backup is bootable. 

  • You can see the integrity of your last backup by verifying when a successful screenshot was taken. You can provide a historical backup integrity summary information about the last 10 backups.  
  • You can also quickly determine whether a client and their assets are protected with a single view for last backup time, last backup status, whether the backup was successful and the latest recovery point that you have offsite in Datto’s cloud. 
  • Datto data volume updates will show up in IT Glue as well. This enables you to check whether volumes are protected, whether anyone added a new volume and whether a backup was set up.
